Trans-Siberian Orchestra is an American neoclassical metal band which was formed in 1996. They have been ranked as one of the top twenty-five ticket-selling bands in the first decade of the new millennium. They are known for extensive charity work and for their elaborate concerts.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra, also known as TSO, is named after the Trans-Siberian Railway. The band was founded by Paul O’Neill. Because the railway connects vast, harsh landscapes, he felt it mirrored music which “connects people through life’s beautiful and difficult moments”.
Their theatrical rock concerts blend hard rock, classical, and symphonic music. They are known for creating massive light shows with fog, lasers, huge video walls, and pyrotechnics. These amazing effects are synchronized to the music. Their concerts also feature narrated storytelling, especially for their popular Christmas-themed rock operas. They turn holiday traditions into “arena-rock spectacles”.
Because my mother won tickets on the radio, I was able to experience TSO firsthand at one of their Christmas concerts. The special effects were absolutely amazing. The lasers, the pyrotechnics, and the drones creating colorful patterns all synchronized to the music were stunning. I could feel the flames under the raised platform right in front of me! All of this accompanied music that was absolutely beautiful. The entire thing was simply mesmerizing. I highly recommend seeing them in person.
