How the treats came out when I made them!

With Halloween around the corner, there’s never been a better time for a spooky treat!

These ghost-themed sugar cookies are easy, quick, and a great goodie for party guests or just to enjoy for yourself!

Ingredients for Sugar Cookies:

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup softened butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • One Egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps to make Sugar Cookies:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. In a small bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder
  3. In a larger bowl, beat sugar and and butter together using an electric mixer until smooth
  4. Beat in egg and vanilla extract
  5. Gradually add your dry ingredients to the second bowl while beating. Be sure to not overmix!
  6. Scoop your dough and roll into walnut sized balls. Place dough onto ungreased baking sheets about two inches apart from one another
  7. Bake in preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until golden edges
  8. Let cookies cool for a couple minutes before removing from the sheet

Fondant: There are two options for your fondant; buy from a store or make at home. I made my fondant at home, and it only took around five minutes.

Ingredients for Fondant:

  • Whole bag of Mini Marshmallows
  • 1-2 tablespoons of Crisco Shortening
  • 1-2 tablespoons of water
  • Powder sugar

Steps to make Fondant:

  1. Put mini marshmallows in a large bowl and microwave until melted
  2. Add powdered sugar, crisco shortening, and water
  3. Mix together texture with hands (wash hands first!)
  4. Add powdered sugar accordingly as mixing. You want to have a consistency that you can mold with your hands but doesn’t stick to your hands

Putting Everything Together:

  1. Take two Reese’s mini buttercups and place one atop the other. Take a little bit of fondant and place to the bottom of your reese’s buttercups and attach to the middle of the sugar cookie
  2. Gently roll out fondant and cut out small circles. Place over reese’s and fold to look more like a ghost
  3. Using a toothpick, use blue food coloring to make two “little eyes” on your ghosts
  4. Repeat this process with all your sugar cookies
  5. Enjoy with friends and family!
