The class of 2025 has had multiple opportunities that have helped shape who they are and what they want to pursue in their future over the past four years. Reflecting on those memories reminds students of how far they have come and how much they’ve grown. Msgr. McClancy offers various activities that allow students to express themselves and their interests, including a wide range of clubs and sports teams. One very popular club here at McClancy is musical productions. This year was my first year being part of the Tyros Dramatic Society and getting to sing on stage in front of a huge audience. Since I still have much more to learn, I’m asking my senior co-star and friend, Roswell Deleon ‘25, about his experience and his thoughts about his final year. Roswell was the lead character of Aladdin in this year’s production of “ALADDIN JR!

Q: What made you decide to join the drama club?
“Well, I thought to myself that I have a wonderful musical talent. So I saw the Tyros drama club going on and I asked one of the teachers, “What does drama club do?” and they said, “They do plays.” And, it’s been my dream to perform on a stage because when I was in 5th grade, I saw my cousin perform at his talent show, and seeing him on stage, I was like “wow, I want to do that!” I had the dream of singing, but never got the experience of going on stage, so I thought maybe I’d give this a shot. Mrs. Lozada invited me to do auditions, and I had a really fun time and made a wonderful musical journey.”
Q: What is to you the most difficult part of putting on a show?
“After all my experience now in Tyros for the past four years, I now know how to put on a really good show, but the most difficult part is memorizing your lines, cause it depends on what role you have. If you have a lead role you have a lot of lines to memorize. That’s why I study in advance and not last minute. I tried that once for Buddy Holly and almost failed. I always bring my script just in case I forget a line, which is now impossible for me.”
Q: What is your favorite role you have gotten?
“The roles I have had were Mayor of Los Angeles, Buddy Holly, Sebastian, and I finished off as Aladdin. Most people say I did well as Sebastian, but I say Aladdin because I had a fun time and more spotlight. When I realized the show and the role that I had, I knew this was definitely going to be the best show for me.”
Q: Feelings about going to college?
“I am a little bit nervous, but I have a gut feeling that I can do it. It may be my freshman year in college, but I have a feeling it will be a good experience for me.”
Q: Advice for future seniors?
“This is senior year, this is not the time to screw up. You have to stay focused, have fun since it’s your last year here, develop closer friendships with your teachers, and if you get invited to any senior events, go for it because you need to have as much time as you can with your friends and classmates because in college you may not be able to talk to them ever again.”

This was a very insightful interview as Roswell has demonstrated the success that much passion and dedication can bring. Senior year is the most important year, as all of our efforts set the stage for future endeavors, but we should also never forget to make fun long lasting memories that will make the final year unforgettable. Thank you to the Class of 2025 for all the memories they contributed to my high school experience, and I hope their next four years will bring them much joy!
