In an exciting boys volleyball matchup that had students filled with emotions, McClancy took home a 3-2 set victory over La Salle in a game full of momentum shifts and comebacks.
The first set started off close, with both teams exchanging points early — McClancy holding on to a 5-4 lead before extending it to 7-5. La Salle responded, tying it to 9-9 and keeping it close at 15-14. But McClancy found their rhythm late in the game and secured the set 25-19.
La Salle came with everything in the second set, jumping to a 4-2 lead. McClancy answered back, tying it at 7-7, and from there the set was back-and-forth. McClancy began to take the lead with smart plays and strong defense, getting to a 20-16 lead. They finished La Salle off closing the set 25-19 once again.
With a 2-0 set lead, McClancy looked poised to win after jumping to a 4-1 lead in the third. But La Salle refused to lose. Even though they were down 22-19 and facing match point at 24-19, La Salle made an incredible comeback, tying the game at 24-24 and stunning McClancy with a 27-25 win.
La Salle carried that momentum into the fourth set, taking an early 7-5 lead and getting to 17-13. McClancy answered back with a 10-1 run to go up 23-18, but La Salle answered once again, finishing strong to win 25-22 and winning the fourth set.
In the final set, McClancy came out stunned since La Salle was coming back, but was composed getting to a 4-0 start. They kept up the intensity, pushing the lead to 13-7. La Salle managed to chip away, but it wasn’t enough — McClancy closed it out 15-10, finishing the match 3 sets to 2 in a thrilling finish.
This game had it all: comebacks, lead changes, and momentum swings. In the end, McClancy showed composure under pressure and walked away with the hard-fought win.
