Monsignor McClancy’s Tyros Dramatic Society had successful first performances. The Tyros received overwhelming support from family, friends, teachers, and peers. However, the audience doesn’t get to see what goes on backstage. Before the Tyros put on a little show, there’s so much work done all thanks to the stage crew, sound crew, art crew and everyone behind the scenes.
It’s showtime, the moment’s now, the moment’s here, but the first step is arriving at school at least two hours before. Tyros who live rather far away stay in school and get ready. Other Tyros go home and come back either halfway
ready or about to get ready. One could make a checklist of what needs to be done. Makeup, costume, mics, last minute practicing, making sure props are ready, etc. Prompters and stage crew prepare themselves too, connecting themselves to their walkie-talkies. Lights and sound ensure that actors follow guidelines in order for them to be seen in the light. Hospitality is essential in welcoming everyone coming to watch the performance. The incredible orchestra tunes in their instruments and runs through music on their own. Most of all, all members of the Tyros support each other through the rather rapid journey of preparing to make this production possible. Lastly, the incredible Mrs. Lozada gathers us behind the curtain, thanks everyone for their hard work and effort and leads us in prayer.
Something I’ll always remember is when she tells us God has given us many gifts, and we have to thank Him for allowing us to be able to share them with others. When I reflect on my first year, joining the team, I never imagined myself going up on stage. Yet, Mrs. Lozada saw something in me that I still don’t see in myself. The Tyros Dramatic Society will be presenting their last two performances on April 11th and April 12th. We look forward to sharing this whole new world with you!
