Last week at Monsignor McClancy, the students participated in a Life’s Dignity Retreat. This retreat was made to help the students reflect on their dignity and their connection to God. Throughout the retreat they read about how to find dignity and how their dignity in life is connected to strengthening their relationship with God.
During the retreat there was a spiritual activity. The activity was a scavenger hunt around the school. Their goal was to follow the clues to find specific teachers hiding around the school. Once they found the teacher, that teacher would give them a toiletry product. Such items included a toothbrush, shampoo, tissues, hair brushes and more. Once the students found all the items, they put them in ziplock bags and wrote a positive message on a card to go along with the bag.
These bags that the students put together were actually care packages for the victims of the California wildfires. This simple retreat activity turned into a wholesome moment where the entire McClancy community came together to do their part in helping out a very serious problem. Not only did this dignity retreat help them all find their dignity and strengthen their relationship with God, but it also brought them all together to help out the people who really needed it!
