On December 1, 2023, the varsity boys basketball team played in their home opener against St. John’s Prep. It was an energetic atmosphere, as many students stayed to watch the game and support the team! The boys started the game very sloppy, with lots of turnovers and missed baskets leading to St. John’s leading 37-36 at halftime. McClancy started out the third quarter on fire, as they went on a 14-0 run to go up 51-39. The 4th quarter was filled with free throws and turnovers, but the team went on a 14-6 run to pull away from St. John’s and win 77-67. They were led by Jaiden Gaston (27 points), James Rosales (20 points) and Paolo Bordone (17 points). Joseph Werner (8 points, 2 BLK) also played a factor in the intense win. The varsity boys will look to keep their undefeated season up on Sunday afternoon!
