In honor of Woman’s History Month, there are many women in our history that have done great actions. However, we should also highlight more recent figureheads such as Malala Yousafazi. She is a Pakistani educational activist who had an attempt done against her life for advocating against the suppression of women’s right to education. She is also a Nobel prize winner for her efforts. In 2012, when she was only 15 years old, she was shot by a Taliban member for speaking out for women’s education. Thankfully, she survived and started the Malala Fund which is a nonprofit organization centering on funding women’s education across the world. She is just one of the many modern-day women who make history today. Her dedication to women’s education highlights how, sadly, there are still places and ideas that want to restrict women’s education simply for their gender or other exaggerated reasons.
